The 2016 Windows to the West Art Show and Sale convenes more than 50 of the country's top contemporary Western heritage artists in one of the most beautiful mountain settings in America at the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park.  The three-day sale and exhibition in Estes Park, Colorado, June 3-5, showcases more than 200 new pieces of art, with rich opportunities to meet the artists and discuss their unique depictions of Western landscapes, wildlife and traditional Western American life.  Windows to the West is a charitable benefit event sponsored by the Estes Park Western Heritage Foundation.

Art Purchase Opportunities

Art Purchase Opportunities

Registrants are able to purchase artwork throughout the show.

  • The first opportunity is the Patron Pre-Gala Reception on Friday night.  Patron registrants have early admission to the opening, giving them 90 minutes of exclusive art viewing and purchasing activity.
  • All Opening Gala registrants then have admission beginning at 7:00 pm and can view and purchase art that evening.

During the Patron pre-Gala reception and the Opening Gala, all art is purchased through the "Bid-Up Auction" process, as described below.*
  • On Saturday and Sunday, registrants may purchase artwork at the posted price anytime during show hours.  Purchases on these days are on a first-come basis.

Bid-Up Auction*

Art is purchased Friday night at the Patrons' pre-Gala reception and the Opening Gala by filing a "bid card" for a specific artwork in a secured bid box.  At the Patron pre-Gala reception, bids must be filed before 6:30 pm, when the bids will be processed.  The purchase option is awarded to the highest bidder for each piece. If the top bids for the same artwork are the same amount, the purchase option is awarded by a drawing between those highest bidders.  This process occurs again during the Gala opening, with the bid filing cutoff at 8:30 pm, when the purchases will be processed.

All purchases on Friday night -- at both the Patrons' pre-Gala reception and the Gala opening -- require a minimum "bid" equal to the full listed value of the artwork, plus a 10 percent surcharge contribution to the Foundation. "Bid-ups" also are additional contributions to the Foundation.   The 10 percent surcharge and the "bid-up" amounts support the charitable and educational functions of the Estes Park Western Heritage Foundation, a 501(c)3 corporation.

Charitable Contributions

All art purchasers will receive, at a later date, an email listing the portions that may be tax deductible of their registration ticket costs, art purchase amounts and, if purchased Friday night, contributions in the bid-up auction .
